As the collaborative process in the workplace continues to use different conferencing platforms, businesses are looking for solutions that can easily bring everyone together. Solutions with a large user base make that much easier, and Deltapath®, a unified communications solutions provider focused on video, just released Deltapath® frSIP® Skype for Business Gateway. The new service extends the communications solutions for all Skype for Business users so they can use video to communicate with external customers, partners, and suppliers in the open Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) environment.
As the company said, the goal is for “any to any” communication that connects Microsoft Office 365 / Skype for Business and external teams seamlessly across a range of devices.
The Deltapath® frSIP® Skype for Business Gateway takes .263, H.263++, H.264, H.264 SVC (UCIF Profiles 0, 1), VP8, and RTVideo and call-signaling protocols such as H.323, SIP, WebRTC, and Microsoft Lync and transcodes them between the different codecs and translates the different protocols so it can be supported.
“Deltapath® frSIP® Skype for Business Gateway is the ubiquitous transcoder between Microsoft Lync or Skype for Business to virtually any enterprise video-conferencing endpoints. It enables all Skype for Business customers to connect to their extended teams using open SIP and legacy H.323 video conferencing endpoints, mobile devices, computers with Web browsers, and SIP phones, vice versa,” said Andy Chan, Director of Solutions Architecture at Deltapath®.
According to Chan, one of the driving forces for developing this solution was to give organizations a tool for protecting their communication infrastructure investment in their video conferencing rooms and IP phones. Communication between all SIP and legacy H.323 video conferencing endpoints, and all on Skype for Business / Lync clients with high definition video, audio, content sharing, and instant messaging can now be carried out on any device, including HTML5 Web browsers.
The Deltapath® frSIP® Unified Communications Platform also gives Microsoft Office 365 Enterprise E1 and E3 customers the ability to make and receive traditional phone calls on their business phone lines using the Skype for Business client. Customers with Office 365 Enterprise E4 can access more enterprise-grade telephony features, including contact center, video and voice call recording along with industry specific features.
With so many platforms available in the marketplace, the solutions businesses select is very likely to be different. This creates compatibility issues that make it difficult to communicate with external organizations. The Deltapath® frSIP® Skype for Business Gateway supports the different formats and codecs so companies can communicate with voice, video, content sharing, and instant messaging at any time and on any device.
